The famous Glazed Donuts store at 420 Eaton Street, where there are many wonderful coffee drinks and many delightful donuts including the famous Key Lime Donut is another thing that helps make Key West so great! They open daily at 7AM and only until 3PM. If there’s a long line, don’t worry… it moves fast, and it’s well worth the wait!

Highly recommended is Caroline’s Cafe right near the intersection of Caroline & Duval. It’s a really great outdoor restaurant with lots of character, not to mention the characters who work there, and a really good view of the passersby on Duval Street.
They have the best burger on the island, at Caroline’s, as well as really good Key Lime Pie, and they also have a full bar, and several beers and wines. The staff is quick, attentive, and hospitable! Tell Robert the general manager, as well as any other staff members that; “the Professor says hello!” (The guy with the bowtie!)

For your convenience, there are many small neighborhood grocery stores and convenience stores, scattered around the island, if you want to walk or ride your bike to get beer, ice, soda, milk, cigarettes, lottery tickets, newspapers, and a multitude of food items.
For those who prefer a full fledged, full-sized supermarket, there are TWO Publix Supermarkets on the island! As a native Floridian, this writer LOVES Publix, and you probably will also!
Publix… where shopping is a pleasure!

No trip to Key West is complete without a visit to this famous tourist destination: The Hemingway Home & Museum and they have a wonderful walking tour of the property! You will love it!
By the way Cat Lovers…there are dozens of cats running around, and they are direct descendants of felines owned by Papa himself! They each have been named after a famous person!

There are many awesome restaurants and bars, and several of them have great, live music or other entertainment. Who doesn’t love relaxing to a cool drink and listening to some great, live music?
This spot is where Sloppy Joe’s used to be, before the owner in those days, who cut a deal with the landlord on the corner, and then had all the patrons grab a chair, stool, or table and follow him to the new location. Both establishments have wonderful live entertainment!

The weather in Key West is so wonderful, you’ll think you’ve died and gone to heaven! The average year-round temperature is better here than in most places on earth!

Jobs galore, and if you can pass a drug test and a criminal background check, then you will really have your pick of decent jobs! Many of the art galleries and jewelry stores pay a nice hourly wage PLUS a nice commission, and if you have sale experience, then there will be no shortage of jobs for you to choose from! Same goes for waiters, waitresses, and bartenders!
I understand that the US Postal Service often has to entice postal workers from Miami to come down and help out. There are also many other government jobs in Key West.

When you’re new in town, or when you friends come to visit, you can all stroll over and take a ride on the Conch Tour Train or the Old Town Trolley Tours, both operated by Historic Tours! When you buy your ticket, you might want to consider a combo ticket that also includes admission to theKey West Aquarium, and the Shipwreck Museum, especially if there are kids in your party! After the ride, you can pop into those two attractions for an hour or so each.
Historic Tours is also one of the larger employers on the island.

When you live here, you can come see the event as often as you want!

Take the children of all ages to Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum and you will love it too! Then you can grab a light meal by re-visiting Angelina’s Pizzeria, or you can get really great Conch Fritters, either from the cart in front of the Key West Aquarium or the booth next to Ripley’s!
There’s a nice view from inside The Shipwreck Museum.
The best conch fritters on the island, are sold right outside the entrance to the aquarium!
